What protection functions can an air compressor controller perform?

1. Motor protection function
Overload protection
When the motor current exceeds the rated value, the controller automatically cuts off the power supply to prevent the motor from being damaged due to overheating.
Phase missing/unbalanced protection
Detects whether the three-phase power supply is missing phases or has unbalanced voltage (such as when the voltage of a certain phase is lower than the rated value by 80%). Prevents the motor from burning out due to single-phase operation.
Voltage Abnormality Protection
Monitor the input voltage. When the voltage is too high (such as exceeding 420V) or too low (such as below 340V), the system automatically shuts down to prevent equipment damage.

 

II. Exhaust Protection Function
Exhaust Over-temperature Protection
Monitor the exhaust temperature in real time using a temperature sensor. If it exceeds the set value (such as 110°C), the controller immediately shuts down and displays "Exhaust Temperature High".
Common causes: Faulty cooling fan, insufficient lubricating oil, or clogged cooler.
Supply Pressure Over-Pressure Protection
When the exhaust pressure exceeds the set upper limit (such as 1.0 MPa), the controller alarms and shuts down to prevent the risk of explosion of the storage tank due to excessive pressure.
Troubleshooting direction: Check if the pressure sensor, solenoid valve, or oil filter element is damaged.

 

III. System Safety Protection
Anti-Reverse Rotation Protection
Detect the phase sequence of the power supply. If the phase sequence is incorrect (such as reverse connection of the three phases), the controller displays "Phase Sequence Error" and prohibits startup to avoid damage to the mechanical structure due to motor reversal.
Solution: Swap any two phase power lines.
Sensor Failure Protection
When the pressure or temperature sensor breaks, the controller alarms and shuts down to prevent misjudgment and equipment.

Low-temperature protection
In cold environments, if the exhaust temperature is lower than the set value (such as 5℃), the controller will shut down to prevent the lubricating oil from solidifying or the system from freezing.

IV. Auxiliary component protection
Fan overload protection
Monitor the current of the cooling fan motor. If the fan is stuck or overloaded, the controller will alarm and shut down to prevent the host from being damaged by high temperature.
Oil cut-off protection
Detect the oil pressure or flow. If there is a lack of oil or a cut-off of oil supply, the controller will immediately shut down and alarm to prevent the screw rotor from being damaged by dry grinding.

 

V. Intelligent Warning and Maintenance
Three Filter Replacement Reminder
Record the usage time of the air filter, oil filter, and oil-gas separator. When the expiration date is reached, the indicator light will turn on to alert for component replacement.
Fault History Record
Store the occurrence time and frequency of important fault signals (such as overheating, overpressure), facilitating the analysis of the equipment's health status.
Remote Monitoring and Inter-control
Inter-control function: Multiple air compressors operate in coordination. They automatically switch between the main unit and the backup unit based on the pressure of the pipeline network, achieving load balancing and energy saving.

 

Six. Special Operating Condition Protection
Low cooling water flow protection
For water-cooled air compressors, if there is a lack of water or the flow is too low, the water flow switch will act. If the water flow does not recover within 20 seconds and the exhaust temperature rises to 100℃, the machine will automatically shut down.
Over-temperature and over-pressure protection of the storage tank
Detect the temperature and pressure of the storage tank. In case of abnormality, an audible and visual alarm will be triggered and the machine will shut down to prevent explosion risks.
