Mini PLC Controller Basic Structure


A PLC is essentially a computer specially designed for industrial control. Its hardware structure is basically the same as that of a microcomputer. It basically consists of power supply, central processing unit, memory, input unit and output unit.

1. Power supply: used to convert alternating current into direct current required by PLC. At present, most PLCs are powered by switching regulated power supplies.

2. Central Processing Unit (CPU): The CPU is the control center and the core part of the PLC. Its performance determines the performance of the PLC.

3. Memory: It is a semiconductor circuit with memory function, which is used to store system programs, user programs, logic variables and other information.

4. Input unit: It is the input interface between the PLC and the controlled device, and it is the bridge for the signal to enter the PLC. Its function is to receive signals from the main command element and the detection element.

5. Output unit: It is also the connection between the PLC and the controlled device. Its function is to send the output signal of the PLC to the controlled device, that is, the CPU converts the weak signal into a level signal, and then drives and executes the controlled device.

4. Data collection and monitoring
